Here are the warning signs you should look for in your relationship if you believe domestic violence is present.
One of the most common signs of domestic violence is when your spouse or significant other prevents you from seeing friends or family members. This is a controlling issue that the person has to the point where he or she doesn’t want you to interact with others.
Another sign of domestic violence is constantly embarrassing you with negative comments or put-downs not only in private but also in front of others. Speaking negatively about your appearance, the way you run the house, how you care for the kids or the type of job you have are all common put-downs.
When the other person in your relationship doesn’t give you any access to money, or makes you ask for money, then domestic violence might be present in your relationship. The same can be said for the other person taking your paycheck from you when you come home from work.
If the other person has ever threatened you, become physical with you, threatened your pets or damaged your property then domestic violence is present in your relationship.
