Pre-trial
release involves bond reduction or a release on your own recognizance
(ROR). Payment of the bond amount or an ROR allows criminal defendants
to resume their lives pending final resolution of a criminal case.
Just because a person is charged with a criminal offense, does not mean
the person is guilty. The person has an absolute constitutional right
to seek pre-trial release. When a person is incarcerated, their fortunes
and economic welfare are at stake. They cannot work and cannot support
themselves or their family. Competent legal assistance can help to convince
the court to release an accused individual. Pre-trial release is the first
step in returning that person to a productive position in society.
